Twisted Tales – Drama & Mystery Stories

Sweet Revenge

The first snowflakes of the season fell gently outside the expansive glass windows of Le Petit—one of the city’s most upscale and exclusive dining spots. Inside, the atmosphere was a stark contrast to the biting winter cold. The soft yellow glow from the crystal chandeliers overhead mingled with the flickering candlelight on every table, creating an incredibly cozy and romantic setting. In one corner of the room, a towering Christmas tree was magnificently decorated with vibrant red ornaments and twinkling string lights, signaling the arrival of the holiday season.

At a prime center table with the best view, Grant was raising a glass of red wine. He wore a meticulously tailored black suit, a perfectly tied bow tie resting against his crisp white shirt, highlighting the handsome, polished look of a successful man. Sitting opposite him was Ellie—a radiantly beautiful blonde woman. She wore a delicate, pale yellow silk slip dress that hugged her soft curves. Ellie smiled affectionately at Grant, her eyes reflecting the sparkling candlelight, looking as though she were the happiest woman in the world on this Christmas Eve.

But little did Ellie know, Grant’s perfect little act was about to come crashing down.

From the entrance, a brunette woman with smooth yet decisive strides was making a beeline straight for their table. She wore a black satin slip dress that accentuated her sharp, commanding presence. Her eyes were as cold as icebergs in the ocean, fixed intently on the back of the man spinning his sweet lies.

She stopped right behind Grant, crossed her arms, and let her red lips curl into a sarcastic smirk. With a voice that was sweet yet sharp as a knife, she spoke up:

“Working late, babe?”

Hearing that all-too-familiar voice, Grant’s spine went rigid. He blinked, the romantic smile instantly vanishing from his lips. Grant slowly turned his head, his face completely drained of color. Extreme panic and bewilderment stripped him of his usual composure, and in his frantic state, he blurted out the wrong name:

“Ellie…”

The brunette ignored his humiliation. She shifted her sharp gaze to the bewildered blonde sitting across the table and enunciated every word clearly:

“Did he tell you he’s mine for Christmas?”

Ellie was stunned. The hands holding her wine glass trembled slightly. She stared wide-eyed at the woman in the black dress, then back at the man across from her, stammering:

“Yours?”

The romantic atmosphere shattered in an instant, replaced by a suffocating tension. Grant scrambled to his feet, holding his hands up as if trying to placate both women. He stammered, desperately trying to salvage whatever dignity he had left:

“Babe, let me explain…”

But he had severely underestimated the fury of a woman scorned. The brunette had no intention of hearing another excuse. With a swift, decisive motion, she reached for the silver ice bucket chilling the expensive champagne right next to their table.

SPLASH!

Without a second of hesitation, she dumped the freezing water and ice cubes directly over Grant’s head. Water streamed down his slicked-back hair, soaking his expensive suit and completely extinguishing his arrogant ego. Amidst the murmurs starting to ripple through the surrounding tables, she slammed the ice bucket back down on the table, throwing the shivering man a look of utter disgust:

“Merry Christmas, Grant.”

By now, Ellie had put all the pieces together. Her dream of a single Prince Charming was shattered. A mix of guilt and sheer anger flared up inside her. Ellie stood up, glaring at Grant with disgust:

“You said you were single.”

Grant wiped his face with his hand, water still dripping from his chin onto the pristine white tablecloth. He tried miserably to justify himself: “I…”

“He says that a lot,” the brunette shrugged sarcastically, delivering the final blow that severed any hope the jerk had of explaining his way out of it.

She spun on her heel and walked away with her head held high. Ellie cast one last glance at Grant’s pathetic state, then firmly grabbed her purse and followed the brunette.

“Ellie, wait!”

Grant’s desperate plea echoed through the upscale restaurant, but neither woman bothered to look back. The two of them—a betrayed partner and a deceived date—walked out the doors side by side, leaving behind the most soaked and humiliated man of Christmas Eve. Their shared pride inadvertently forged an invisible bond, setting the stage for a plan no one could have ever anticipated.
